Orange County Begins Introducing Electric Vehicles And Park Equipment Across County Parks
YSR.
Orange County has begun adding new electric vehicles and maintenance equipment throughout its park system following the approval of nearly $1.2 million in state funding.
The funding was awarded through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s Clean Energy Communities Program and is being used to replace older gas-powered equipment with new electronic equipment.
The upgrades include electric utility vehicles, landscaping equipment, and additional clean-energy infrastructure across the county’s 12 parks, which welcome almost a million visitors each year.
County officials said the new equipment is expected to reduce emissions, lower long-term operating expenses, and create quieter conditions for visitors and employees.
Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus said the investment will modernize the park system while supporting the county’s clean-energy goals.
