The New York State Thruway Authority reported that enforcement in work zones remains strong, with hundreds of drivers ticketed in just one week.

According to officials, New York State Police Troop T issued a total of 747 tickets for violations in work zones along the Thruway’s 570-mile system.

The majority of tickets were for speeding, with 452 drivers cited. In addition, 47 drivers were ticketed for violating the Move Over Law, and 45 were cited for using a cell phone or electronic device while driving. Another 203 tickets were issued for various other traffic violations.

Authorities continue to stress the importance of slowing down and staying alert in work zones, where crews are often working close to moving traffic.
