Study Reveals Hudson Valley Home to Some of New York’s Deadliest Roads

By Y.M. Lowy

The Hudson Valley is home to three of New York State’s ten deadliest roads, according to a new five-year study of fatal crashes.

The study ranks Interstate 87 as the most dangerous roadway in the state, with 58 fatal crashes over the five-year period. Route 9 ranked second with 44 fatal crashes, while Route 9W placed sixth on the list with three fatal incidents.

The Department of Transportation is urging drivers to follow speed limits, avoid aggressive driving, and obey all traffic laws in an effort to reduce serious and fatal crashes.

Continued awareness and safer driving habits are key to improving road safety across the Hudson Valley.
