Orange County to Hold Public Hearing on Sewer Plant Expansion
By Y.M. Lowy
Orange County officials will be holding a public hearing this Wednesday to discuss a major expansion of the Harriman Wastewater Treatment Plant, which covers Kiryas Yoel, the Town of Monroe, and parts of Blooming Grove and Woodbury.
The proposed expansion would increase the plant’s daily capacity from 6 million gallons to 9 million gallons. According to county documents, the added capacity could make way for around 9,000 new housing units throughout the district.
The public hearing is expected to give community members a chance to ask questions and share their thoughts before any final decisions are made.
