Orange County Conducts Cybersecurity Emergency Training Exercise
By Yisroel R.
Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus joined staff from every county department and partner agencies for the county’s second full-scale emergency response training exercise since June. While the earlier drill focused on general incident preparedness, this exercise centered specifically on cybersecurity.
The training, organized by the Emergency Services team, simulated a major cyberattack that disrupted internet, network, and cell phone services across the county. Information Technology Commissioner Glenn Marchi and his team led the response, coordinating with all departments to ensure accurate communication and public safety. Officials said the goal was to strengthen the county’s ability to protect residents in the event of a large-scale digital disruption.
County leaders highlighted the professionalism, coordination, and teamwork shown by everyone involved. They noted that full-scale drills like this help ensure Orange County can respond quickly and effectively when unexpected emergencies arise.
Departments participating in the exercise included the Orange County Youth Bureau, the Department of Health, the Sheriff’s Office, and the Veterans Service Agency, along with multiple supporting agencies.
