New Daj Connector Road Named ‘Kiryas Yoel Gateway’

New Daj Connector Road Named ‘Kiryas Yoel Gateway’

By Y.M. Lowy

The newly completed Daj connector road, which runs between County Route 105 and Daj Boulevard, will officially be named Kiryas Yoel Gateway, giving the new roadway a name before it opens to traffic.

The road creates a new connection between Daj Boulevard and the area of Nininger Road and County Route 105, providing drivers with another route into and out of Kiryas Joel. The new connection is also intended to help reduce traffic on nearby roads, including Bakertown Road and Daj Boulevard, by giving drivers another way to reach their destinations.

The project included major work at both ends of the road. At Daj Boulevard, crews changed the intersection layout to create a three-way intersection with a sharper turn into the new road. At Nininger Road and County Route 105, the existing three-way intersection was expanded into a four-way intersection to accommodate the new connection.

Although the roadwork has been completed, the new road has not yet opened to traffic. Orange & Rockland still needs to complete the utility pole work before drivers can begin using the new route.
