Manhunt Underway in Orange County for Armed Homicide Suspect After Deadly House Fire
A large-scale manhunt is underway in Orange County for a homicide suspect after authorities say a Greenville home was deliberately set on fire Thursday evening, with a man later found dead inside.
New York State Police are searching for 32-year-old Thomas David Ryan, who authorities say is wanted in connection with the homicide and arson. Ryan is considered armed and dangerous.
Emergency crews responded at approximately 7:18 p.m. Thursday to a two-alarm fire at 512 Greenville Turnpike in the Town of Greenville. After firefighters extinguished the blaze, authorities discovered the body of a deceased man inside the residence.
A preliminary investigation determined that the fire had been intentionally set, according to State Police. The death is now being investigated as a homicide.
Authorities launched an extensive multi-agency search for Ryan, involving law enforcement agencies, crime analysis centers, transportation officials and aviation resources.
Police say he is believed to be driving a gray 2016 Toyota Prius with New York license plate HNH-7671.
Authorities are warning members of the public not to approach Ryan if they see him, as he may be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to immediately call 911 or contact the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Middletown at 845-344-5300.
The investigation and search remain ongoing.
