Woodbury Town Board Approves Resolution Calling for DOT Traffic Study on Route 32
By Y.M. Lowy
The Woodbury Town Board has approved a plan asking the DOT to take a closer look at safety along Route 32, from Woodbury Commons down to Trout Brook Road.
The road has had a number of crashes,
including a recent accident on Memorial Day when a driver tried to pass another
car near the Quaker Street intersection and crossed over the double yellow
lines.
Because of this, the town is now asking
the state to study whether the speed limit should be changed and whether
certain intersections along Route 32 are safe enough, especially where it can
be hard to see traffic or make turns.
The request also includes concerns from
residents and local businesses who say traffic in the area has become more
dangerous and harder to manage.
The Town Board says the approved
resolution will be sent to the Department of Transportation this week for
review.
