Village of South Blooming Grove Gets Major Public Works Garage Upgrade
By Y.M. Lowy
The Public Works Garage is about to get a massive upgrade. The expansion will more than double the current space, giving the Public Works Department plenty of room to store trucks, machinery, and equipment, all in one convenient location at the Village of Bloomingrove’s headquarters on Route 208.
This expansion is a big deal, especially since the village has never had its own full-fledged Public Works Department until now. For years, the village has relied on outside contractors for essential tasks. But with this new garage, the village is taking a giant step toward self-sufficiency, handling operations in-house and cutting down on the need to outsource.
What’s even more impressive? The entire construction is being funded by CSB Construction, the same company under contract to handle snowplowing in the village. As part of their ten-year contract, CSB agreed to build the garage at no cost to the taxpayers. That’s right — not a penny of taxpayer money is going toward the construction.
In return, the garage will remain under the village’s ownership, even after CSB’s contract ends. It’s a win-win: the village gets a state-of-the-art facility to support its Public Works operations, and taxpayers get to keep their wallets closed.
