Traffic Signal Upgrade Approved at Mapes Place and Spring Street

The Village of Monroe is moving forward with traffic improvements at the intersection of Mapes Place and Spring Street.

The upgrade will include a new left-turn arrow for drivers traveling on Spring Street turning onto Mapes Place, along with a “No Turn on Red” sign for vehicles turning right onto Mapes Place. The changes are designed to help ease traffic along Spring Street and make the intersection safer.

The project was approved at a recent board meeting following review and planning by village officials. Mayor Alex Melchiorre, who recently took office, was involved in advancing the plan and working with the police chief after visiting the intersection to observe traffic conditions firsthand.

Installation and implementation of the new traffic signals are expected to take place in the near future.
