The checkpoints are strategically placed on Bakertown Road, Rimenov Court and Daj Boulevard, as well as Forest Road and Gorlitz Court.

These efforts are in place to keep everyone safe by stopping unlicensed taxis from operating in the area. Police are asking people to follow all transportation rules and report anything suspicious to help keep the community safe.

1103/27/25, 3:29 PM250327033314-468075867Y.M. Lowywriter995Kiryas Yoel Route 17 Ramp and Traffic Upgrades Plannedkiryas-yoel-route-17-ramp-and-traffic-upgrades-plannedwriter14
A new ramp connecting Schunnemunk Road to Route 17 is nearing the final planning stages. This project includes a Park and Ride with 700 parking spaces and is part of a state effort to improve Route 17 from the Thruway to Route 113. The land for the ramp was purchased by Kiryas Yoel officials in 2021, and the connection is expected to ease traffic at the 208 intersection near the Mombasha Fire Station. The new ramp will bypass local streets, linking Schunnemunk Road to Route 17 via a roundabout.

Plans also include a shortcut road parallel to Route 17 to reduce congestion. Kiryas Yoel’s growing traffic needs prompted the purchase of land near Schunnemunk Road to improve access to the highway. Road safety improvements, such as salting for winter and addressing sharp turns and low overpasses, are part of the project.

Permits for the planned upgrades are expected by next summer, with construction to follow. The improvements will address ongoing traffic along Route 17.
110100103/27/25, 4:30 PM3/27/25, 8:30 PM250327042625-5686042461992EMS Teams Train for Emergencies at West Pointems-teams-train-for-emergencies-at-west-pointwriter14
EMS teams from Orange County took part in a Mass Casualty Incident drill at West Point Military Academy.

Kiryas Joel Volunteer EMS, Orange County EMS Coordinators, Monroe Volunteer Ambulance, Woodbury Community Ambulance, Pine Bush Volunteer Ambulance, and Ambulnz were all present at the drill.
110100103/27/25, 12:40 PM3/30/25, 1:14 PM250327110658-6354686651news["classifiedsheader","classifiedscontent","classifiedsfooter"]["dailyheader","dailycontent","dailyfooter"]1dailymornroe["topbanner","firstbanner","contentads","sidebarads"]1Header Section1Hotizontal Section1Sidebar first1Sidebar second1Sidebar third1Sidebar fourth1Sidebar fifth1Sidebar sixth1Sidebar seventh1Sidebar eighth1Sidebar ninth5701234567https://admin.dailymonroe.comhttps://www.dailymonroe.com33Breakingbreaking-news100000news003/23/20, 11:58 AM18Politicspolitics010000news2011/11/19, 11:34 AM128Catskillscatskills010000news302/12/20, 4:48 PM129Latest newsbreaking000000news702/12/20, 4:54 PM131Photosphotos001000news1402/19/20, 7:28 AM132Videosvideos001000news1502/19/20, 7:28 AM140Snapshotsnapshot000010news1706/11/20, 6:35 AM182Recipesrecipes001000news5207/28/21, 4:05 PM18Politicspolitics010000news2011/11/19, 11:34 AM128Catskillscatskills010000news302/12/20, 4:48 PM129Latest newsbreaking000000news702/12/20, 4:54 PM131Photosphotos001000news1402/19/20, 7:28 AM132Videosvideos001000news1502/19/20, 7:28 AM133Breakingbreaking-news100000news003/23/20, 11:58 AM140Snapshotsnapshot000010news1706/11/20, 6:35 AM182Recipesrecipes001000news5207/28/21, 4:05 PM183Music Videosmusic-videos000000news5308/9/21, 3:27 PM185Today in Historytoday-in-history000010news55011/4/21, 7:44 PM186Weatherweather000000news56011/5/21, 4:14 PM187Featuresfeatures000000news57011/9/21, 9:24 PM190News Roundupnews-roundup010000news60011/17/21, 10:02 PM194Memory Lanememory-lane-1100010news64011/19/21, 4:00 PM196Culinary Cornerculinary-corner000000news65012/13/21, 3:57 PM197Living Legacyliving-legacy000010news66012/13/21, 4:01 PM199In Tributein-tribute001000news68012/20/21, 3:26 PM1103Beyondbeyond000010news7202/10/22, 3:44 PM1104Local Reportlocal-report100000news7302/10/22, 4:07 PM1106Adsads000000news7502/14/22, 8:35 PM1109Around the Housearound-the-house000010news7806/13/22, 3:17 PM1110Around the Worldaround-the-world000010news7906/13/22, 3:18 PM1112Readers Writereaders-write000000news80012/29/22, 10:18 PM1113Birdseye viewbirdseye-view000000news8101/9/23, 4:42 PM1114Tuesday Tiptuesday-tip000010news8201/9/23, 7:53 PM1115Facts That Figurefacts-that-figure000010news8302/27/23, 9:23 PM1116Captured Momentcaptured-moment000010news8405/23/23, 2:40 PM1117Boro Park Todayboro-park-today000000news8506/19/23, 1:34 PM1118Early Shabbos Listearly-shabbos-list000000news8607/5/23, 6:13 PM111Businessbusiness000000blogs1011/25/19, 10:27 AM1121Test Rick
testt
test-rick100000blogs8701/3/24, 8:30 AM123Engagements engagements000000simchas1101/16/20, 6:31 AM171Babybay000000simchas4407/28/22, 6:57 PM142Job Opportunitiesjob-opportunity000000classifieds003/23/20, 12:00 PM146Servicesservices000000classifieds003/23/20, 12:00 PM152Lost and Foundlost-and-found000000classifieds2307/22/20, 11:47 AM157Real Estatereal-estate000000classifieds2807/22/20, 11:52 AM162Merchandise for salemerchandise-for-sale000000classifieds3307/22/20, 12:07 PM167Gemachsgemachs000000classifieds3807/22/20, 12:23 PM172Othersothers000000classifieds4307/22/20, 12:29 PM174Car Services car-services000000classifieds4508/24/20, 7:40 PM1105Driveway for Rentdriveway-for-rent100000classifieds7402/10/22, 7:23 PM193Memory Lanememory-lane000000stories63011/18/21, 6:54 PM1126testtest-1000000stories9106/11/24, 10:24 AM1125Category 1category-1000000artists9003/1/24, 10:06 AM1
