A new ladder truck has officially arrived at the South Blooming Grove Fire District, giving firefighters additional equipment to respond to larger and more challenging emergencies.
The newest addition to the fleet is a 1999 Pierce aerial ladder truck with a ladder extending more than 100 feet and equipped with a 2,000-gallon-per-minute pump. While the truck is pre-owned, it is new to the department and will replace older equipment while expanding the district’s capabilities.
The search for a replacement ladder truck began years ago as the community continued to grow and new larger buildings created additional challenges. Rather than purchasing brand-new equipment, the district chose a pre-owned truck to save taxpayers dollars.
The truck arrived on Friday and will now undergo inspections, be outfitted with equipment, and be used for firefighter training before officially entering service.
