Winter weather made driving difficult today, leading to a string of incidents on the roads.

Monroe firefighters were on their way to a crash on Route 17 when they spotted a taxi that had slid off Museum Village Road. The crew stopped to help the driver while other units continued to the original scene. Blooming Grove Police also arrived to assist.

A short time later, a school bus on Seven Springs Mountain Road pulled to the side to prevent sliding. A truck coming from behind was unable to stop in time and hit the bus along with two other cars. Another vehicle that had already stopped behind the bus was then struck by a plow truck that also could not stop, pushing the car into the bus again. It became two separate multi-vehicle crashes involving six vehicles in total. Chaverim and State Police arrived quickly, and fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Conditions continued to cause trouble on the same road. Two more cars slipped off Seven Springs Mountain Road, which is known for its winding layout. Emergency crews from KJ Fire Department and Chaverim responded once again.

There were also two separate incidents on Schunnemunk Street, where two cars slid off the roadway in the same area. The vehicles were not involved with each other, but both drivers lost control due to the slippery roads

The cold weather conditions are making certain roads especially risky. Drivers are urged to take their time, avoid sudden braking, and stay away from steep routes until conditions improve.
