Severe Heat Expected Across Orange County as Heat Index Nears 100 Degrees

YSR.

Severe heat and humidity are expected across Orange County and the surrounding region beginning Thursday and continuing throughout the weekend, with temperatures reaching around 90 degrees and the heat index making it feel close to 100 degrees at times.

The combination of high temperatures and heavy humidity will increase the risk of heat-related illness, particularly during the hottest parts of the afternoon and for residents spending extended periods outdoors.

Some surrounding counties have issued Heat Advisories, including Orange County, where the advisory remains in effect from 11:00 a.m. Thursday through 8:00 p.m. Friday. Orange County officials said heat index values could reach approximately 101 degrees and warned that the advisory may be extended into Saturday.

Hot and humid conditions are expected across Orange County as well, beginning Thursday and continuing throughout the weekend, with residents urged to take precautions as the heat index approaches 100 degrees.

Officials are urging residents to limit strenuous outdoor activity, take frequent breaks when working outside, stay hydrated, and spend time in air-conditioned locations whenever possible.

Residents are reminded never to leave a child or any vulnerable occupants inside a parked vehicle and are encouraged to check on elderly relatives, neighbors, young children, and anyone with chronic medical or breathing conditions.

Anyone showing signs of heat stroke, including confusion, hot and dry skin, difficulty breathing, weakness, or dizziness, should receive immediate medical attention.
