Route 208 and Mountain Road Passing Lane Completed

By Y.M. Lowy

The long-awaited project at Route 208 and Mountain Road is finally finished, easing traffic for thousands of drivers every day.

The project began in November 2020. The intersection was known for frequent accidents and long backups. A temporary traffic light was installed first, which took nearly two years because of state delays. The permanent light, originally planned for 2025, has now been delayed to 2028.

After the light, the Village added a passing lane. The work faced legal and technical delays, but it is now complete. Before the project, drivers often waited 10 to 15 minutes during rush hours. Since the lane opened last week, traffic has already improved.
