Road Closures Friday Near West Point for Military Competition

By Y.M. Lowy

Drivers around West Point should expect temporary road closures close to the zman on Friday, May 1, due to a scheduled military event.

New York State Route 218 and parts of New York State Route 293 will be closed to all traffic from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. as part of the annual Sandhurst Military Skills Competition. In addition, Route 293 will be limited to northbound traffic only between the Range Operations building and the ramps to U.S. Route 9W.

During the closure, those entering or leaving the post are advised to use the Stoney and Thayer gates.

Helicopter activity will take place throughout the day and night from May 1 through May 2.
