Police Urge Drivers To Avoid Woodbury Commons Outlet Area

By Mrs. I. Perl

Following the traffic disaster near the Woodbury Commons Outlet on Black Friday, police are urging motorists to consider alternative routes during the next few weeks as holiday shopping ramps up.

According to the State Police, traffic was backed up around 6 miles on the northbound side of the NY State Thruway on Black Friday, leaving motorists stuck in traffic for several hours. As thousands of shoppers tried getting to the outlets, some people were seen walking on the side of the road as the exit was closed once the outlet’s parking lot was at full capacity.

Police are urging drivers who are not heading to the Woodbury Commons Outlet to try and avoid the area as much as possible in the next few weeks so as not to exacerbate the traffic, especially during peak hours.
