Police Pursuit From Monroe Ends In Arrest in Kiryas Joel

A police pursuit that began in the Village of Monroe ended in Kiryas Joel on Tuesday, after a multi-agency response involving Monroe Police, Kiryas Joel Public Safety, New York State Police, and Woodbury Police.

Monroe Police initially began the pursuit along Route 17M. The vehicle then continued onto Route 208, Schunnemunk Road, Forest Road, deep into Kiryas Joel.

The chase turned dangerous as the vehicle was driving on curbs. At one point during the chase, the vehicle was temporarily lost and Police gave up.  Then, Kiryas Joel Public Safety located the suspect vehicle and alerted additional law enforcement units, helping re-establish the pursuit.

The chase ultimately came to a stop near 17 Rovna Court.

The five occupants exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, but were quickly apprehended by officers on Taitch Court and the driver was taken into custody.
