The Monroe Fire Department held a training drill Monday afternoon focused on the use of 2-1/2” hose lines, a powerful firefighting tool used when a large amount of water is needed during an emergency.
This type of hose is commonly used for commercial building fires or situations requiring heavy water flow. Compared to the more commonly used 1-3/4” hose, the larger hose is more difficult to maneuver and requires extra strength and coordination from firefighters.
Training in the summer heat, Monroe’s volunteer firefighters continued to sharpen their skills and prepare for the challenges they may face while protecting the community.
