Orange County Emergency Services Adds New UTV to its Fleet
Yisroel R.
Orange County Emergency Services has added a new utility terrain vehicle (UTV) to its emergency response fleet, giving first responders another tool to reach patients and operate in areas that are difficult or impossible for regular ambulances to access.
The new UTV was funded through the State Homeland Security Program, a federal grant administered by the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services.
County officials said the vehicle will be used during large-scale emergencies and events throughout Orange County, including situations where patients must be reached in rough or inaccessible areas. Responders will be able to transport patients by UTV to a location where waiting EMS crews can continue treatment and transport them by ambulance.
The county said the new vehicle will strengthen its ability to support first responders while improving emergency response capabilities for residents and visitors across Orange County.
