NYS Thruway Authority Launches Redesigned Mobile App for Easier Travel

The New York State Thruway Authority has launched a redesigned mobile app, giving drivers an easier way to check traffic conditions before heading out.
The free app offers real-time travel information across the 570-mile Thruway system, including live traffic cameras that allow travelers to view current highway conditions, along with roadway alerts, crashes, delays, lane closures, and construction updates.
The updated platform also includes an interactive map, service area information, tolling resources, and a feature that allows users to report issues related to service areas, roadway conditions, or other concerns along the Thruway, similar to the popular Waze platform.
Thruway officials said the app was redesigned with a more user-friendly layout to help drivers quickly access key travel information. The upgraded version replaces the original Thruway mobile app, which was launched in 2017.
The Thruway Authority encourages motorists to download the app before traveling to help plan their trips and stay informed about changing road conditions. Officials also reminded drivers that using a handheld phone while driving is prohibited, even when accessing travel-related information.
