Nisim on NY-17: Bus of Bochurim Narrowly Avoids Catastrophic Crash
By Daily Monroe Staff
In what can only be described as a miracle, around 50 bochurim narrowly escaped a serious crash last evening while traveling on NY-17.
As their bus was driving in the Goshen area, a vehicle came speeding towards them, driving the wrong way at an alarmingly high speed.
The bus driver, traveling at around 70 mph, quickly attempted to stop and avoid the oncoming car. Despite the bus shaking uncontrollably and nearly losing control, it managed to steady, missing the vehicle by mere inches.
Tragically, moments later, the wrong-way driver collided head-on with a tractor-trailer. The impact caused a massive fire, killing the driver of the vehicle on the scene. The tractor-trailer driver was rushed to the hospital with injuries. Misaskim and Chesed Shel Emes, as well as a name for Tehilem, was not needed.
The accident resulted in the closure of both the eastbound and westbound lanes of the highway, with State Police on-site for hours conducting an investigation.
Though shaken, all the Mesivta Buchirim and staff were unharmed, thankful for what they are calling a true miracle.
