Next Phase on Route 17 Project Begins

The next part of the Exit 122 project is getting started. The project will improve the safety and mobility of a 30-mile stretch of Route 17 between Exit 113 and Interstate 87.
“Like so many of our bridges and highways, State Route 17 is a product of the mid-20th Century that no longer meets the needs and demands of 21st-century New Yorkers,” Governor Hochul said.
Back in 2015, the western side of the interchange was rebuilt. Now, this new $67.8 million project will take care of the eastern side. Once it’s done, traffic should move more smoothly, and there’ll even be a new path for people walking or biking.
Drivers might notice lane shifts and some short delays while the work is going on. If all goes as planned, everything should be done by late 2026.
