By Y.M. Lowy

The New York State Police have released information about the arrest of the two men accused of trying to scam someone out of $15,000.

Wei Baoguo, 34, and Yu Sheng Gui, 38, contacted a 27-year-old victim and pretended to be FBI agents. They told the victim he had to pay $15,000 or he would be arrested. The victim agreed and met with the suspects to hand over the money.

Following the transaction, Baoguo and Gui were located and apprehended later that same day.

Both men appeared in court on August 5 and were released without having to pay bail. They both have a future court date at Blooming Grove Town Court on September 4, for their next hearing.

The New York State Police shared this information to update the public after the scam was stopped.
