Hochul Announces Results of July 4th Traffic Enforcement
By Mrs. I. Perl
NYPD and state police were on alert over July 4th weekend for reckless and aggressive driving as New Yorkers traveled and celebrated Independence Day. The safety enforcement campaign ran from July 3rd through July 7th.
Governor Hochul announced in a statement today that over 37,000 tickets were issued during the enforcement campaign, and over 250 drivers were arrested for drunk driving.
“Keeping New Yorkers safe has been my top priority since taking office and this includes keeping reckless and aggressive drivers off the roads,” Governor Hochul said. “During a time when friends and families gather together, we will continue to work closely with law enforcement and ensure New Yorkers can celebrate safely.”
