Governor Hochul Rolls Out Ambitious 2026 Paving Plan, Orange County to Receive $17.7M in Improvements
By Y.M. Lowy
Governor Kathy Hochul announced a record-breaking plan to renew state roadways across New York during the 2026 construction season. More than $600 million will be invested in over 180 paving projects totaling nearly 2,150 lane miles.
The funding comes from an $800 million boost Hochul secured in the latest state budget to expand the final two years of the state’s $34.3 billion, five-year Capital Plan. The 2026 program marks the most ambitious annual resurfacing effort ever launched by the New York State Department of Transportation.
In Orange County, the plan includes $13 million to resurface Route 17M from Route 94 to Route 207 and from Route 17 to Gilbert Street through Chester, Goshen, Monroe, and Blooming Grove.
Another $4.7 million will repave Route 32 from Route 300 to the Ulster County line in Newburgh.
