Governor Hochul Announces Major Investment in Westchester Medical Center
Governor Kathy Hochul visited Westchester Medical Center today to talk about the state’s big new investment in hospitals and health care. She was joined by Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart Cousins during a tour of the hospital.
Governor Hochul announced that Westchester Medical Center will get up to $100 million from the state’s Department of Health through the Safety Net Transformation Program. The money will help connect Bon Secours Charity Health System and Health Alliance of the Hudson Valley with the WMCHealth network. This will make it easier for hospitals to work together and improve care for patients.
The announcement comes as some federal policies could cut funding for hospitals across the country and limit access to care.
“Our goal is to make New York a place where people live longer, happier, and healthier lives,” Governor Hochul said. “That starts by supporting hospitals and the health care workers who make it all possible.”
With this plan, Westchester Medical Center will be able to treat more patients close to home, using one shared medical record system.
