Drunk Driver Sentenced for Fatal Crash in Woodbury
By Y.M. Lowy
Yeraldo Roa, 36, of Port Jervis, was sentenced Friday to 2 to 7 years in prison for the tragic crash that killed his 11-year-old passenger on Route 6 in Woodbury.
On the evening of September 23, 2023, Roa, with a blood alcohol content of 0.20 — more than twice the legal limit — crossed double yellow lines and struck multiple vehicles before a devastating head-on collision. The crash claimed the life of the young girl in his car and left others injured.
“This was a tragedy that didn’t have to happen,” said District Attorney David M. Hoovler. “Drunk driving destroys lives, and we will hold offenders accountable.”
