Work on the new Daj connector road and the nearby intersections was completed last week, bringing the project closer to opening to traffic.
As part of the final roadwork, crews completed changes at the intersection where Daj Boulevard meets the new Daj connector road. The layout was changed to create a three-way intersection, with a sharper turn leading into the connecting road. Stop signs were installed at the intersection as well.
Work was also completed at the intersection of Nininger Road and County Route 105. The current three-way intersection is being expanded into a four-way intersection, with the new Daj connector road adding another direction for traffic. The intersection has been repaved, new road markings have been added, and turning lanes have been added in all directions.
Guardrails have also been installed along the Daj connector road, marking another step toward completing the project.
Although the roadwork is now finished, the road cannot yet open to traffic. Orange & Rockland still needs to complete the utility pole work in the area before the new connection can be opened to drivers.
