Chester Structure Destroyed in Winter Fire on Gibson Hill Road

A structure on a long private road off Gibson Hill Road in Chester was destroyed by fire, prompting a massive emergency response. Fire departments from Chester, Monroe, Woodbury, Kiryas Joel, Florida, Pine Island, Greenwood Lake, and Warwick, along with Chester Police, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Kiryas Joel Hatzalah, and Chaveirim of Orange County, rushed to the scene.

The first engine on site became stuck in the snow, temporarily blocking access for other crews. Chester DPW worked to clear snow and provide a path for responders, but despite their efforts, the building burned down. No injuries were reported.
