Big Road Fixes Ahead in Orange County

Big Road Fixes Ahead in Orange County

By Y.M. Lowy

Two rough stretches of road in Orange County are finally getting fixed. In Monroe, Route 17M will be repaved in two parts, from Gilbert Street to Route 17 and from Route 207 in Goshen to Route 94 in Chester. The state plans to start bidding in the spring and finish the work by the end of 2026.

West of Middletown, work has already started on Route 17 between Exit 116 and 119, running to the Orange–Sullivan line. The main road is done, and crews are now fixing the exits. That project began on September 24.

Drivers have dealt with potholes and bumpy pavement for years. The repairs should mean safer, smoother rides for everyone who uses these roads.
