Alex Melchiorre Elected New Mayor of Monroe

You could feel the excitement across the community following yesterday’s election in the Village of Monroe.

Out of 1,200 votes cast, 660 went in favor of Alex Melchiorre, who was elected as the new mayor. Along with him, the two endorsed trustee candidates, Joseph Mancuso with 710 votes and Nancy Peifer with 713 votes, were also elected.

In contrast, the current mayor Neil Dwyer received 519 votes, while his running mates Andrew Ferraro and Martin O’Connor received 462 and 458 votes respectively.

This result comes after a long period of challenges. Residents had faced ongoing difficulties, including costly violations and policies that were widely felt to be unfairly targeting the heimish community. This election was seen by many as an opportunity for a fresh start.

The outcome was close, with a difference of just 141 votes in the mayoral race, showing how much every single vote mattered.

This didn’t happen overnight. For months, askanim worked tirelessly to make sure residents were registered and informed, ensuring that everyone had the opportunity to take part in this important election.
