Alert: Scam Callers Pretending to Be Sherrif's Office

By Y.M. Lowy

A scam is going around in Orange County where people are getting fake calls from someone pretending to be the sheriff’s office. When you call back, it even sounds official, with options to press for different departments—but it’s all fake.

The scammers try to scare people into sending money. They’ll say you missed a court date, didn’t register for something, or have a warrant out.

The sheriff’s office is warning everyone:

● Don’t give out personal or bank info

● Don’t send money or gift cards

● Hang up right away

● Write down the number if you can

● Report it to local police
