$30,000 in Handbags Stolen from Woodbury Common Gucci Store

By Y.M. Lowy

Police are still investigating a bold daytime theft at the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets, where four suspects made off with roughly $30,000 worth of designer handbags.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. Thursday at the Gucci outlet store. Three men and one woman smashed a display case and grabbed more than a dozen handbags before fleeing the store on foot.

The group then got into a vehicle and headed toward New Jersey, where they were later spotted by officers in Newark. The suspects led police on a 20- to 30-minute chase, at times driving onto sidewalks while trying to escape.

The vehicle was later found abandoned at a home in Irvington.

The female suspect has been identified and may be connected to more than a dozen similar thefts across the tri-state area. Multiple warrants are reportedly already out for her arrest, though her name has not been released. No arrests have been made so far, and the investigation remains ongoing.
