A seven-car crash on Route 6 shortly after 12:45 a.m. early Sunday morning left 22 people injured, including one in critical condition.

The late Motzei Shabbos multi-vehicle chain crash reportedly began when a driver with a suspended license crossed the yellow line and traveled into oncoming traffic, setting off the first collision. Several minutes later, a second multi-car collision occurred as a result of the initial crash, creating a chain reaction involving a total of seven vehicles. Several of the vehicles involved suffered significant damages.

A total of 22 patients were treated following the crash. One patient in critical condition was transported to Westchester Hospital via medical helicopter.

Ambulances from KJ Hatzolah, Monroe EMS, Woodbury EMS, and Tuxedo EMS treated patients at the scene. The medical helicopter landed at Monroe-Woodbury High School, where the Monroe and Woodbury fire departments secured the landing zone.

Woodbury Police, the Woodbury Fire Department, New York State Police, and Tuxedo Police also responded to the crash. Tuxedo Police closed Route 6 as emergency crews worked at the scene and investigators began looking into the circumstances surrounding the serious multi-vehicle collision.
